The conference represents a coming together of Australia’s growing “Trauma-Aware Education” movement in Australia, led by Associate Professor Judith Howard at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT).

Judith’s approach to transforming practice in schools and early childhood services is focused at the University level, by training educators at pre-service and post-graduate levels to understand complex trauma and address it in education settings. She also works with education systems across Australia and has led research and development of national guidelines and other supports for this work.

The conference is another important way of advancing this work across Australia. It brings together leaders in research and education policy and practice and many others who are passionate to share ideas and progress their learnings in this important and growing area.
