Reclaim your body: An introduction to Trauma Sensitive Yoga

As an additional bonus, join us for this one-hour workshop, prior to the start of the conference program on Sunday morning!

Where: Plaza Terrace (outdoor)
Time: 7:00am – 8:00am
When: Sunday 11 September
Cost: $15.00 which includes yoga information and practice session and a light breakfast.

Only 60 places available.

Your host, Feren Yen, will introduce you to the key theories that inform Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TC-TSY) and you will experience TC-TSY in action. You will not need a yoga mat – as you won’t be lying or sitting on the floor and after the yoga session, we will enjoy a light breakfast together.

(TC-TSY) is an evidence-based somatic practice for those affected by trauma, traumatic stress, post-traumatic stress disorder, and other emotional conditions including anxiety and depression. TC-TSY is underpinned by trauma theory, attachment theory, neuroscience, and the central components of hatha yoga. Participants practice a series of physical forms and movements without needing “get it right”. Instead, elements of traditional hatha yoga are modified to build trauma survivors’ experiences of empowerment and agency and cultivate a more positive relationship to one’s body.

You will have an enjoyable and invigorating learning experience as well as walk away with ideas on how yoga can benefit your learners and staff.
